More Good News!

September 11, 2007

by Linda Hutchinson

There is some good news with regard to the U.S. median household income.
A recent report from the Census Bureau says that household income last year rose to $48,201, an increase of 0.7% as compared to 2005. This earnings figure is still below the U.S. income peak reached in 1999, but is certainly a step in the right direction.

When everyone is saying the sky is falling I can still say that facts don’t lie. These statistics backs up the claim that the economy is not as bad as the newspaper pundits scream!

  1. I think it’s curious that most of the markers for economic growth are in a general upward trend, but the perception of the public is that the economy is weaker now than it was in the mid-1990’s through the early 2000’s. It demonstrates the power of perception more than anything, I suppose.

  2. I agree completely Chris. Negative press tends to rule the minds of the general public when in fact, the economy is not in the tank and it’s a great time to buy a home. Bad news sells. It’s reflects the sad state of our news media.
