In Charlotte NC foreclosures are hitting highest in the lowest and most expensive neighborhoods, for different reasons. in the first case they were sub-prime 100$% financed deals- that have gone bad- the Sub-sub-prime if you will. At the most expensive, it the Alt- A type borrower, with interest only or pick a pay notes...

Again I ask, how to intervene? I understand there at=bout $1Trillion in outstanding mortgages

I read recently that there were 40,000 foreclosures in the month, but 2.2 million homes lost value because of those foreclosures... multiple foreclosures in a neighborhood are like a wrecking ball coming hitting home values.
But what is the solution, with over 12M unemployed. What should gov't be doing?

The wave has only begun. Its going to get a whole lot bigger before it all over.

I am curious to see what will happen once the moratorium is over and the lenders start releasing more properties.

Showhomes is a great alternative to renting.
Showhomes matches high-end vacant homes for sale with people who have beautiful furniture and need temporary housing. If you are moving from one city to another, are building a home or simply want to live in a beautiful home for a fraction of what it would normally cost, consider becoming a Showhomes Home Manager. You can enjoy a Showhome as if it were yours while it remains on the market for sale. In exchange for keeping it clean and letting buyers view the home, you get dramatically reduced monthly fees - something the Travel Channel calls "the best kept secret in real estate!"

Long had a loyal ally and friend in North Louisiana. If we think things are bad now it is still nothing to compare to the 1920s and 30s. Things were bad, real bad, during the great depression. There was an individual that fought for the cause of the Laboring man in Louisiana and the country. His name was Harvey G. Fields and he fought the Bankhead act and called for the replacement of Hugh Johnson as the head of the NRA. Both of these actions happened. He also fought tirelessly for the individual in the courts while at the same time taking down the Governor Leche political system in Louisiana. He was a member of the Huey Long Law Firm, Chairman of the La Public Service Commission, Chairman of the Louisiana Democratic Central Committee and was the Federal Prosecutor of the Western Region of Louisiana. His floor fights at the Democratic National Conventions led to the seating of several controversial delegations. To read more about life during the great depression and several failed federal attempts go to Google Books and search for “I Called Him Grand Dad”. Eventually Fields was not reappointed as Federal Prosecutor following his work to dismember the totally Roosevelt dedicated Richard Leche organization in Louisiana. He was known best for his integrity, honesty and dedication to his causes. Fields was identified three times on Who's Who in American Politics and his home town of Farmerville presented him with the award for 50 years of practicing law in Union Parish.
